Sustainability begins with architecture, procurement, and planning. We take into account the efficiency, lifespan, scalability, and actual resource requirements of an IT infrastructure right from the design phase.

Consolidation, virtualization, optimized cloud and infrastructure models, and continuous monitoring can help reduce unnecessary resources and excess capacity.

Offset remaining emissions
Emissions that cannot be meaningfully avoided or reduced can be offset within a clearly defined scope through our partnership with Dimarjan.

Sustainability measures become more valuable when they can be documented in a transparent manner. Customers therefore receive appropriate documentation for defined CO₂ offsets.
What does sustainable IT mean?
Sustainable IT considers not only the power consumption of individual devices, but also the entire life cycle of an IT infrastructure.
These include, among other things, the selection and sizing of systems, the operation of data centers and cloud platforms, hardware lifecycles, virtualization, monitoring, the reuse of equipment, and the responsible management of residual emissions.

Sustainability is part of our management system
Unimission has a certified environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001. This means that environmental considerations are not viewed as isolated measures or marketing initiatives, but are systematically integrated into processes, responsibilities, and continuous improvement measures.
Our environmental management is complemented by other certified management systems.
CO₂ Offsetting for IT Infrastructure
Offset Remaining Emissions in a Transparent Manner
Not all emissions from an existing IT infrastructure can be avoided in the short term. For specific IT infrastructures and services, Unimission—in partnership with Dimarjan—therefore offers the option to offset remaining CO₂ emissions and to document the offsets accordingly.
Defining IT Infrastructure
Together, we determine which infrastructure, systems, or services should be included. These may include, for example, server, storage, network, cloud, or managed service components.
Determine the CO₂ volume
The basis for the corresponding CO₂ offsets is determined for the agreed-upon scope. This ensures transparency regarding which infrastructure is included in the assessment.
Offset Emissions
The corresponding offsets are provided through the climate and agroforestry projects of our partner, Dimarjan.
Receive a receipt
The customer receives documented proof or a certificate confirming that CO₂ offsetting has been completed for the specified amount.
Climate Action That Makes a Difference
Unimission partners with Dimarjan for CO₂ offsetting. Dimarjan develops and operates climate and agroforestry projects that sequester CO₂ while also generating environmental, social, and economic benefits in the respective regions.
In this way, the partnership combines emissions offsetting with long-term projects.
For specified CO₂ offsets, customers receive corresponding documentation verifying the measures taken. This allows for transparent documentation of the scope taken into account and the offsets that were implemented.

For us, sustainability also means social responsibility. As part of the Acronis Cyber Foundation Program, Unimission 2026 supported an IT education project in Schaffhausen. Our practical experience was incorporated into a program that helps people with immigrant backgrounds develop digital skills and integrate into the workforce.
